Jerome Sydenham è uno dei nomi più conosciuti
nel mondo dell’house e della techno. I suoi Dj set sono
qualcosa di sensazionale, e variano dalla techno, alla tech
house, all’house più classica. Non si allontana
mai troppo dalla techno, sia quella di Detroit che quella più melodica.
La sua carrier musicale è iniziata alla fine degli anni ’80,
quando è entrato a far parte della sezione A&R dell’Atlantic
Records, dove ha lavorato con En Vogue, Das Efx e il gruppo
Ten City.
Poco dopo ha conosciuto il produttore Kerri Chandler, un suo
caro amico nonché stretto collaboratore. La sua fama
come produttore e come dj è cresciuta negli anni ’90,
insieme alla sua etichetta Ibadan Records, fondata nel 1995.
E' conosciuto in tutto il mondo per le sue tracce house, come “Swimming
Places”, e la sua lunga collaborazione con Dennis Ferrer
che ha fatto nascere “Sandcastles”, entrambe per
l’etichetta Defected. Condivide con Ferrer la passione
per la techno, un genere molto particolare che affascina molti.
Le sue collaborazioni con Tiger Stripes, degli Swedish, che
hanno dato vita alla traccia “Elevation” e al remix
di “In The Trees” dei Faze Action, sono pietre
miliari della storia della musica house.
La sua creatività lo ha portato nel mondo della techno
con la hit
“Asama”, con la quale ha lanciato la sua etichetta
tedesca, Apotek Records. Nel 2007, con la traccia “Elephant”,
ha iniziato a collaborare con la Avocado Records, etichetta danese.
I più recent remix di Sydenham includono: “Addition” di
Pig & Dan (Ground Factory), “GT” dei Planetary
Assult Sistems (Mote Evolver), “Angel” di Carl
Craig” (Planet-e), e “Forming Dies” di Adam
Beyer & Joel Mull (Drumcode).
